We’re delighted to have Annie Foster coming to our third Symposium. I first met Annie at the first Speakeasy in Carlisle that I ever attended. From the moment she took the mic it was very clear that I was listening to something special. I felt exactly the same when I read her poems published by Flambard. Annie will be reading from her new pamphlet, Solway Songs, which is being published by Caldew Press (more on that soon!). Here’s a bit of bio:
Annie Foster has been writing for fifty years. She was encouraged by Bill Scammell and David Scott and began to have work published in anthologies in the 90s. She helped to write the Creative Writing Degree at Cumbria Institute for the Arts and taught on that course with Nick Pemberton. She has been part of Speakeasy in Carlisle since the beginning. She is interested in marrying the natural world and the inner life. When the writing goes quiet she likes to weave and paint and cook.
