Matthew Clegg

I have two Matthew Clegg collections from Longbarrow Press. It would be difficult to overstate the effect reading Matthew Clegg’s work has had on the way I look at poetry. He was the first Longbarrow poet that I came across and I have recommended his work to people ever since. Something else that has impressed me in the last few years is that many of the Longbarrow poets take the time to investigate their thinking via longer form essays, too. Perhaps ‘essays’ is too loaded a term and perhaps ‘treatise’ is a better one. Perhaps not. This is a really interesting dimension to explore if you are a reader of poetry. Even if you haven’t read Clegg’s Cazique, I think you’ll find what he has written here ( really interesting. And you can then go to the Longbarrow Press site (!
