The next Featured Writer to announce will be very well known to those poets who know Speakeasy well. I am really looking forward to hearing Kelly Davis read on the 21st (in my original post I had written that I was ‘very really looking forward’ – and that is true, too). And there is some bio below. Do follow the links!
Kelly Davis was born in London, studied English Literature at Oxford University and worked for Penguin, Longman and BBC Books in the 1980s. In 1989 she moved to Maryport, on the West Cumbrian coast, where she works as a freelance editor. She has had poems published in many anthologies and in magazines, including Mslexia, The Journal, Southlight and Shooter. She won a Magma subscribers’ competition in 2018 and was commended in the 2020 Borderlines Poetry Competition and longlisted for the erbacce-prize for poetry 2021. She also has poems in the 2021 Aesthetica Creative Writing Award anthology and Best New British and Irish Poets 2019–2021 (Black Spring Press). She is currently working on a joint collection with Kerry Darbishire, entitled Glory Days, to be published by Joy Howard under her Hen Run chapbook imprint.
