There will be a series of workshops leading up to the Carlisle Poetry Symposium (10th July 2021).
If you are interested in attending an online workshop, please note the dates below. Each workshop will run for three hours. It will run on Saturday afternoons fortnightly from 1:00 pm to 3:00pm. Every workshop will be online. The cost for each workshop will be 7 pounds per person. Each session will be different – you could attend more than one. We may need to limit numbers, in the (unlikely) event of capacity issues.
Book using the form below – please specify exactly which workshop dates you are interested in. None of the funds generated from these four workshops will be taken by any individual associated with the Symposium. All the funds raised in these four workshops will go towards securing the ongoing future of the Symposium. Each session will include at least three writing exercises – and the time to edit these further based on creative editing prompts. Each workshop will open with a different focus on an aspect of contemporary poetry (see below).
The dates will be as follows:
Saturday May 15th 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Opening focus: transferring from one image to the next Saturday May 29th 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Opening focus: titles.
Saturday June 12th 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Opening focus: white space.
Saturday June 26th 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Opening focus: last lines in contemporary poetry.
I am not a famous poet, but I am a teacher. If you’re interested you can find my work in places such as The North, Under the Radar, The Interpreter’s House and Reliquiæ. There are other details elsewhere on the site. A 12″ vinyl-only single is forthcoming with Matchbox Records. I taught poetry classes at the Carlisle Philosophical and Literature Society, too. Maybe you came to one?
