Symposium Rumblings

So, for those of you who wish to know these things… the process has begun. I’ve had contact with the venue and the process has begun. Properly. I’ve contacted some, but not all (yet) of the Featured Writers who would have read for us last May (!). I’ve also set plans in motions for there to be three ‘stalls’ at the event: the ‘pop-up’ bookshop and two small presses selling 100% of their own stuff. In other news, I am going to moot the idea of there being some workshops in advance of the day. This means that people can – if there is a demand – work up some material for performing in the open mic on the day. If you are interested, do let me know in the comments below. It would be a way of off-setting some of the costs that are going to be incurred as we grow the event. If there were three morning workshops on three Saturdays in advance of the event, would that be of interest to people? I was thinking of having one on actually creating poems, one on editing, and then one on performing? Or would people prefer three on creating poems? Anyhow – do contact me if this is of interest (it’ll help me in discussion with the venue!). I miss my teaching slots at the Phil and Lit (both of them!) and I would like to do more of it.

Any and all suggestions will be read – even if I can’t do all of them. The Carlisle Poetry Symposium will continue to be a free event: I feel I should write that, just in case you are wondering.
