Featured Writers for the August 2021 Symposium (1)

It gives me great pleasure to be able to announce the Featured Writers for the August 2021 Carlisle Poetry Symposium. I’ll put one up each day this week – although they won’t be in any particular order. I hope you’re looking forward to it as much as I am. The first poet to announce is Joy Howard. Have a look at the bio below – and please follow the link for more!

Joy Howard lives in Kendal. She founded Grey Hen Press, which specialises in publishing themed anthologies showcasing the work of older women poets, in 2007 as a retirement project, which saved her from slow extinction by boredom. Joy has edited 19 Grey Hen Press anthologies to date, featuring 230 + poets, and series of chapbooks under the imprint Hen Run. She has three collections of her own work: Exit Moonshine (Grey Hen 2009) about her ‘coming out’ experiences in the 1980s, Refurbishment (Ward Wood 2011) and Foraging (Arachne Press2016)

Joy has been kind enough to share more about her work – and I’ll put that up within the next week, too.
